For over 20 years Virgil Scudder has been recognized as one of the leading media trainers
in the United States and abroad. He formed Virgil Scudder & Associates in 1990 after 13
years of developing and directing media training units for two of the world’s largest
public relations firms.
Mr. Scudder has trained and counseled clients in diverse fields, including
environmental, legal, financial services, sports, and product liability. He currently
counsels CEOs of numerous major corporations on an ongoing basis on a wide variety of
issues affecting the public’s perception of them and their companies. He is frequently
called upon to prepare executives for appearances on such programs as 60 Minutes and for
testimony before legislative and regulatory bodies. He also has trained government
officials in the United States and abroad.
Mr. Scudder has conducted training programs at for-ranging locations, including Tokyo,
Hong Kong, Canada, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Moscow,
Morocco and most of the European Union nations.
A nearly twenty year career in television and radio preceded Mr. Scudder’s entry into
the media training field in 1977, providing much first-hand experience on which to draw in
training and counseling clients. He served as producer editor and on-air talent at NBC
News, ABC Radio, and Westinghouse Broadcasting, winning a number of journalism awards and
covering events ranging form summit conferences to oil spills. He was also a first0-ngiht
Broadway drama critic for six years.
He is a graduate of Indian University and a resident of South Orange, NJ.
