Mission Statement
The Iona College Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is committed to the following goals:
To offer Iona College students the opportunity to learn about public relations outside of the classroom.
To act as a liaison between students and the professional organization of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
To provide students the chance to share their experiences in public relations with other interested students through Conferences, Workshops, Events, World Wide Web, etc.
To give students an opportunity to network with public relations professionals.
To allow students to further their craft through hands-on experiences such as internships/jobs.

ARTICLE I. Name
The name of this organization shall be the Iona College Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America. (Honorary Dedication: P. Michael McDermott – 05/01).
ARTICLE II. Membership
1. Membership will be open to all students, undergraduate or graduate, who are interested in learning more about the field of public relations. The chapter will follow the anti-discrimination policy as set forth by Iona College.
2. An official member of the chapter is one who has attended at least ¼ of the semesters Meetings and has paid national dues.
ARTICLE III. Officers
The executive board of the Iona College PRSSA Chapter will consist of a President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Historian, and PR Director. The President will appoint any additional board members if deemed necessary such as Webmaster, Writing Coordinator, Professional Development Liaison, etc.

ARTICLE IV. Officer Responsibilities
All officers are required to be official dues paying members of PRSSA and attend meetings regularly.
President
a. Oversee all of the chapter’s activities
b. Run meetings
c. Notify members of meetings
d. Present an agenda at each meeting
e. Keep in regular contact with the faculty and professional advisors
f. Keep in regular contact with the PRSSA National Committee
g. Keep in regular contact with the Iona College SGA
h. Insure that the other officers are fulfilling their responsibilities
Vice President
a. Will take charge of the chapter should the President become unable to serve
b. Make sure the chapter meets its objectives and goals
c. Develop and oversee chapter programs and events
Treasurer
a. Oversee usage of chapter funds
b. Present a record of the chapter’s funds regularly
c. Act as a liaison with SGA office regarding allocations of funds
d. Create budgets for the chapter during SGA allocation time periods.
e. Coordinate all chapter fundraising programs
Secretary
a. Keep track of information discussed at meetings
b. Create roster of all chapter members
c. Work as a chapter recruitment coordinator
Historian
a. Collect and file all published information and pictures pertaining to the chapter
PR Director
a. Promote meetings, lectures and workshops to Iona College community.
b. Oversee all necessities needed for putting on an on-campus event.
Webmaster
a. Maintain website with most up-to-date information.
b. Keep digital records of documents and photos.

ARTICLE V. Faculty Advisor
A Faculty Advisor from the Mass Communication Department will be chosen by the chapter members to serve as an official link between the students, faculty, administration, and PRSA/PRSSA. This advisor must be a member of the sponsoring PRSA Chapter in good standing.
ARTICLE VI. Professional Advisor
The chapter members will choose at least one Professional Advisor. Professional Advisors must be members of the sponsoring PRSA Chapter, and at least one must be accredited (APR) by PRSA.
ARTICLE VII. Dues
Members shall pay annual national dues of $41 or PRSSA dues figure in November or March of the academic year. Additional dues of $9 for the chapter shall be collected.
ARTICLE VIII. Meetings
The Chapter will hold a minimum of four meetings each semester at agreed upon times.

ARTICLE IX. Elections
Elections for all executive board positions for the next academic year will take place each April. The current Chapter President will oversee all election proceedings. A majority vote will declare a winner. If two existing executive board members run for President, it shall be a closed election. All new officers shall take office on June 1st.
ARTICLE X. Governance
The Chapter will follow all rules set forth by the Public Relations Student Society of America. This will be the Chapter’s governing body. The Chapter will also work closely with the sponsoring PRSA Westchester/Fairfield Chapter, Mass Communication Department, and Iona College Community. The Chapter will also strive to remain a club in good standing with the Iona College Student Government Association.
ARTICLE XI. Amendments
This constitution may be amended by a three-quarters favorable vote from chapter members, provided that the amendment shall have been proposed at least one meeting prior to the voting.
