Emily is a sophomore at Iona College in New Rochelle, NY. She is majoring in Mass Communications with
a focus in Public Relations. Emily is currently the 2001/2002 Iona College PRSSA Treasurer.
Emily joined PRSSA in her freshman year at Iona College. PRSSA has given her so many opportunities that
have enriched her knowledge of Public Relations, and have given her the motivation to learn, and take
advantage of life’s many possibilities.
Emily was able to attend the 2001 National Assembly in New Orleans during her first year in PRSSA.
Networking with so many intelligent college students from all over the United States, made her
realize that Public Relations was what she really wanted to do. She attended many leadership workshops
at the assembly that helped her gain confidence and assurance in her capabilities. Emily also attended
the 2001 National Conference in Atlanta, where she took part in a Professional Development Session given
by four members of the Iona College Chapter. Emily received a Presidential Service Award in recognition
of this presentation.
Emily has helped organize a recruitment campaign for the 2001/2002 school year. She has also written
the budget allocation requests for the Fall 2001 Semester, and Spring 2002 Semester. As Treasurer, she
is currently planning an alumni fundraising campaign.
Emily has worked at a Fitness and Health Club for almost five years. Along with selling memberships and
assisting current members in attaining their goals, she also planned special events including A March of
Dimes Walk, and A Workout Against Cancer. Both drew a lot of publicity in her community.
After graduating in 2004, Emily hopes to pursue a successful career in Public Relations. She would like
to focus in Non-Profit Public Relations, Crisis Communications or Media Training.
In her free time, Emily likes to workout. She enjoys kickboxing, running outside and lifting weights.
Emily also loves to dance, goof around with friends, and listen to music. She enjoys relaxing with a
good book, traveling, and spending time with the people she loves.
