Currently a Senior, Rick has been a member of the Iona College chapter of PRSSA for about two and a half
years. He is majoring in Mass Communications – Public Relations and currently holds a 3.8 GPA. In
addition to a Mass Communications major, Rick uses his open, elective credits for various business
courses. It is his intention to pursue a master’s degree in business after graduating in May of 2003.
During the summer of 2001, Rick had his first real – life exposure the public relations field when he
interned with International Business Machines (IBM) in their Sales & Distribution – Public Relations
department. While interning, his responsibilities included pitch calling, creation of press kit
collateral, media contact research, assisting on media tours and the assembling of press kits.
Upon returning to school, in October of 2001, Rick took part in a presentation on Chapter Development at
the 2001 PRSSA National Conference in Atlanta, GA. As a member of the Iona Chapter team, Rick spoke about
the successful Pathfinder Lecture Series at Iona College.
Outside the Public Relations field, Rick has also received other academic honors for superior achievement.
For each of his five semesters in college, Rick has received Dean’s List honors including this past
semester. In April of 2001, he was elected to the National Residence Hall Honorary, for having a GPA in
the top 1% of residential students at Iona College. Recently, in December of 2001, Rick received a
membership in Who’s Who Among Students In American Colleges & Universities, for his academic standing,
community service, leadership ability and potential for continued success.
