Professor Petrausch is on the faculty of Iona College in the Department of Mass Communication and teaches in the
public relations sequence at the undergraduate and graduate level. His research interests include public relations,
organizational communications, and organizational learning in profit and non-profit organizations. He started his
career in public relations following a stint in the United States Air Force as an officer.
He has held key positions in public relations with Shell Oil, General Electric, Sperry Corporation, GTE, and
served as the top communications executive for Uniroyal Chemical in Middlebury, CT. He holds advanced degrees from
Boston University (M.S. Public Relations); Fordham University (M.A. Public Policy/ Political Science); New School
for Social Research (M.A. Liberal Studies) He will receive his doctorate from the Department of Organization and
Leadership at Teachers College, Columbia University in May 2002.
Professor Petrausch has a broad background in speech writing, media relations, program planning, public
relations management and training. He provides consulting advice to senior executives at Fortune 1000 companies.
He is a member of PRSA and serves on the board of the Westchester –Fairfield Chapter. He has been a member of the
Arthur Page Society.
